Waterton Monday
As soon as we got to the park we were met by a Great Blue Heron in the pond near the gates. I took this as a good sign as I have been trying to get pictures for quite a while. We were at the park way before check-in for our hotel so we went for a drive up the Red Rock Parkway. Right at the Red Rock Canyon we came across a Female black bear and two cubs. After that we saw two brown bears On the hill by the park maintenance yard but they were both too far off for any good pictures. That evening we went up the Red Rock Parkway again and saw a very large brown male black bear. Some people in a pickup came along with two barking dogs in the back of their truck which stressed the bear out enough that he stood up for a better look. We went on our way and found a small brown female black bear with a blonde cub. They were both crunching some fallen trees to get at the grubs inside. We took a trip up the Akamina Parkway and saw a couple of Rocky Mountain Sheep. We also saw a black bear but didn't stop because there was an RCMP car right behind us. Back in town we saw a mother deer with a little fawn that was nursing.
