One of my favorite wild animals that I get to photograph are bears. Being the largest land predator in North America, I am always amazed by their power and beauty every time I come across them. Grizzly bears are believed to number less than 700 in Alberta, so getting the chance to watch them is an opportunity I will never pass up. I am usually able to come across them more often during the July and August months, when the are down from the mountains foraging on berries and anything else they can find to fatten up for their winter hibernation.
This page shows just a few of my favorite and most memorable encounters with these giant animals. From massive males, both grizzly and black, to mothers with their playful young, this is one animal I will never tire of watching and hope to see every time I venture to the mountains.
