Until recently, I didn't have much of an interest in photographing birds. In spring of 2013 I was able to get some pictures of Snowy Owls, and not long after that some pictures of a Great Horned Owl mother and her three owlets. Getting these pictures sparked an interest in me to capture other birds, from the ones on our backyard feeder to the roadside of the mountains. Learning about the incredible variety of colors, sizes, and species of birds has me always looking towards the skies and trees, trying to photograph something I have never seen before. From tiny songbirds, colorful waterfowl, and larger birds of prey, the amazing details of these birds are what make each type so unique. Like the smaller mammals, their skittish nature makes them hard to photograph, so getting a good picture can be very rewarding.
