Waterton Tuesday
We got up early and drove the Akamina Parkway. On the second corner we saw a small brown black bear. He was right on the side of the road so we didn't want to get to close and stress him. To repay us he ran across the road and out of sight before I got any pictures. We saw a Rocky Mountain Sheep a little ways up the road. On our way to the Red Rock Parkway we saw another black bear up on the hill for the maintenance yard but again he was too far away for any good pictures. On one of the first corners of the Red Rock we spotted a moose down the hill in a meadow. On the return trip we saw the large brown male black bear from the night before. We didn't stop though because there was already several cars blocking the road and people out of their cars taking pictures. We decided to go to the Bison Paddock, fortunately the bison were actually within camera range that day. After that we drove the road to the US border. We saw a large brown bear that was eating some weeds but he too was too far off to get any good pictures. On the way back to Waterton we saw a Hoary Marmot but he went and hid under a parked car and refused to come out for some pictures. That evening we saw a small black bear on the Akamina and two brown bears on the maintenance yard hill but again no pictures.
